The Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD Portugal) questioned 47 of the companies that are part of the group, and identified 12 professions with the most lack of professionals in our country. These may well be the best professions to bet on when looking for a job.

Before moving on, it is important to explain that BCSD Portugal is a non-profit association, of public benefit, that aggregates and represents companies that are actively committed to sustainability.

With about 90 members, among which are the largest national companies, BCSD has a wide sector representation and integrates most of the companies on the PSI20 stock exchange index. BCSD Portugal companies provide direct employment to more than 270 thousand employees.

BCSD Portugal is part of the global network of the WBCSD - World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the largest international business organization working in the area of ​​sustainable development.


According to BCSD Portugal, by 2020, a total of 47 companies will create between 7,500 and 11,200 jobs in Portugal. A questionnaire carried out with these 47 companies identified where there is a lack of people in our country, divided into the following five areas:

4.operations and logistics;

5.automation.

The best professions that will guarantee a job, according to the study by BCSD Portugal, are 12 and are divided into the following five areas:

The study also sought to understand which behavioral skills are most important for companies. Leadership is the most scarce behavioral competence among professionals, while customer orientation and results orientation are the two most critical competencies for business development.
