Tip: How to block an app from accessing the Internet on Windows 10

Windows 10 has options that most users are unaware of. These are details that manage to ensure control of the operating system in a very detailed way and that help to manage both apps and their behavior.
The Windows Firewall is a component that normally manages itself automatically, but that can be controlled manually and with a great degree of detail. Today we explain how they manage, in a simple way, to block the access of an app to the Internet in Windows 10.

Manage Windows 10 apps

Whenever they want, they can control an app's access to the Internet. They are thus able to limit its actions and ensure that it does not communicate outside of Windows 10, either to update itself or to transmit data.

To handle this process, they must first open the Control Panel and then choose System and security. Finally, open the Windows Defender Firewall option.

Inside here, in the left column, open the Advanced settings option, located near the end of these options. At this point, the Windows 10 Firewall configuration window should open.

At this point, you should choose the Outbound Rules option in the left column. Then, in the right column, you must choose the New Rule option.

Simple to block Internet access

In the new window, to create the new Windows 10 Firewall rule, follow the steps presented. In the first option, choose the option Program and then define the path to the app you want to block.

Finally, just define the name of the rule you are creating, in the last window. None of the other settings should be changed.

From that moment on, the rule they created is created and working according to the intended and created before.

You will immediately be able to see the rule already present in the list presented and to be used by Windows 10 and its Firewall.

Manage the Firewall of this operating system well

Finally, and to ensure that the rule is correct and well created, they must open the app they have chosen to block. They must test their behavior, especially those who wanted to block Internet access.

In our case, the blocked app was Firefox, which should be tested when accessing any website on the Internet.

Of course, with this change the behavior of the app will be changed and you may have problems functioning. This case will depend on your reliance on Internet access to work properly.

Explore the options that Windows Firewall offers, both to protect users and to ensure that only authorized apps can access the Internet.
