However, these are not normally the choice of the average consumer. For those who need a car to get from A to B, but prefer the most practical and the most economical to the best, there are several proposals that we have compiled in this list.
These are the cheapest new cars currently on sale in Portugal.
1. Dacia Sandero
With a solid, practical and convenient design for daily use, the Dacia Sandero conquers for its versatility, inheriting several components used by other models of the leading brand in Portugal - Renault.
In terms of interior, it is quite comfortable. It has a capacity for five seats and a 1200 liter luggage compartment.
The Renault subsidiary's engine, on the other hand, has 75 hp and 1000 cm3 of displacement - gasoline. All of this, in proportion to the price in question, is undoubtedly very good.
In terms of safety, this very economical model has driving assistance systems and a speed regulator.
The Dacia Sandero is available from € 8,472.
2. Citroen C1
The C1 is the most compact and city model produced by Citröen. It comes equipped with a motor. The 1.0i petrol block with 68 hp meets an average of 4.6 liters per 100 km.
The Citröen C1 is a very light and simple to drive car, being available, new, from 10 € 226 €.
3. Smart ForFour
It is known as the modern, four-seat version of the city king - the original Smart (now ForTwo).
This model has a motorization equal to the smaller model - 71 hp, 100 cm3 of displacement - and, due to its size, spends slightly more - has an average consumption estimate of 5.2 l / 100 km.
In relation to the Smart ForTwo, this small 4-door city has the advantage of being able to carry four passengers, a characteristic that gives rise to its name.

4. Dacia Logan MCV
Renault's subsidiary is queen when it comes to cheaper new cars.
It has two new models that fit in the top 3. Both are very identical: they are spacious, comfortable and have a 75 hp engine and 1000 cm3 of displacement - gasoline. The difference is in size and style.
If the Dacia Sandero is spacious, safe and comfortable, the Dacia Logan also offers the same perks, but with greater capacity for carrying luggage thanks to the possibility of including a roof rack, or a fixed tow hook, like a swan neck.
In terms of size, it is also bigger and heavier. After all, according to the brand, we are talking about a van with all-terrain characteristics and not a saloon with SUV aspects.

5. Suzuki Celerio
The Japanese brand is known mainly in the automotive industry for the Swift model. However, the small (but designed to be comfortable) city Celerio is an excellent option for those who want one of the cheapest new cars.
Despite having only 70 hp and 1,000 cm3 of gasoline displacement, it ends up having the great advantage of having an average consumption of only 4.8 liters every 100 km (l / 100km).

6. Renault Twingo
Although not included in the list of 25 best-selling cars in Portugal, it is quite common to see this model on the street.
There are several reasons for this: it is small but has a capacity for four seats, easy to maneuver and park and the price is cheap - modest 10 270 €.
In terms of engine, it comes with 1,000 cm3 of displacement and 75 hp with an estimated consumption of 5.0 l / 100 km.
7. Ford Ka +
It is the first and only one on the list to exceed 1,000 cm3 of displacement - it has 1,2000 cm3. The engine is gasoline, obviously, and has 70 hp (guaranteed). As for consumption, according to the brand, they can vary between 4.5 l / 100 km and 6.5 l / 100 km, making an average of 5.5 l / 100 km).
It is essentially the engine, more powerful, and the larger size, that make this city model more expensive than the Suzuki. It has a value of € 10,890.
8. Smart ForTwo
The Smart Fortwo is a true city and belongs to its own super compact car league.
Faithful to its creation and living up to its own name, the Smart Fortwo is considered the king of cities as it continues to be one of the best models for those looking for the most shy parking spaces and unconditional freedom in the movement of large urban centers.
Leader in compact dimensions - measuring just 2.69 meters in length - Smart Fotwo continues to be a threat to all car brands looking to design a model with the same characteristics.
The well-known three-cylinder petrol engines from previous generations, the current Fortwo provides relatively low combined consumption - about 5 liters per 100 km. It is available from € 11,350.
9. Fiat Panda
The Panda is a Fiat cityman who conquers by its affordable price, by its originality and skill.
The model was considered European Car of the Year in 2004 and is one of the most affordable car models in Portugal, and can be purchased from € 12,564.
10. Kia Picanto
The Kia Picanto is another of the cheapest new cars available, for all drivers who appreciate convenience and practicality.
This is a model with dynamic lines, skilled in city trips with a bold level of detail.
At the same time, its lines reflect an excellent design work on the part of KIA, which it has been exploring with its own merit, eventually winning more and more drivers to join the South Korean brand in recent years.
With rear parking camera, autonomous emergency braking and maintenance assistance system in the lane, Picanto brings with it a level of equipment already considered to be a little higher compared to its list of direct competitors.
The Kia Picanto also brings with it the “most spicy” price among all the models presented in this list, being available from € 10,480.
